De Looper’s paintings on paper are unique compositions, not studies or schematics for larger works. They mirror many of the periods of innovative experimentation observed in his canvas paintings.

Monotypes: Starting in the 1990s, de Looper had an opportunity to work with several well-known printmaking studios including Pyramid Atlantic, Workshop Inc. and Smith Andersen Editions in Palo Alto, Ca. Many of the artists he admired had participated with Smith Anderson, including Diebenkorn and Sam Francis. De Looper took full advantage of the expansive, fine art presses available, creating bold, large scale monotypes.
